कथाThe tradition

Shri Ram's homecoming, and the city that waited

Shri Ram's story, as Valmiki tells it in the Ramayana, begins in Ayodhya. He is born there to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya, on the ninth day of Chaitra that is kept to this day as Ram Navami.

On the eve of his coronation, he is asked to leave. To keep his father's word, he goes to the forest for fourteen years, and Sita and Lakshmana go with him. Ravana, the rakshasa king of Lanka, carries Sita away. Shri Ram searches for her with Shri Hanuman and the vanara sena, crosses the sea to Lanka and, after the war, returns with her.

When the fourteen years end, he comes home. In tradition, Ayodhya lit its lamps to welcome him, and Diwali's lamps remember that night. His rule, Ram Rajya, is still the measure of a just one, and he is remembered as Maryada Purushottam: the best of men, who kept to every bound of dharma.

Families have kept his name close ever since. The Ramayana is read aloud over many evenings, the Ram Raksha Stotra is recited at dusk, and the thirteen syllables of his name are counted on a mala.

This card is kept for that remembrance. It carries Ayodhya, the place of his birth, into your puja ghar or your wallet, with your name beside it.

स्थानWhere it is kept

When and where families keep it

Families keep it in the puja ghar, beside the Ram Darbar, or in the wallet of a parent who says Shri Ram's name before stepping out of the house. It is wallet-sized, so it sits as easily in a purse, on a desk or in the cash box.

नामYour card

What your Ayodhya Ram Mandir Card carries

  • Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Ayodhya, in the card's own design.
  • Your name, in your script. Printed exactly as you type it, in Devanagari or in English, never transliterated.
  • Depending on the design, a date of birth, a gotra, a short message and a photo.
  • A QR that opens the card's own page, and a serial number on the back that starts with BC-.

You add these after payment, in the app or on the web, with a live preview. Nothing is printed until you press "Make my card"; then the details are final.

विधिHow to begin

Begin it at home, in about thirty minutes

You do not need a pandit. Ideally at sunrise:

  1. Unwrap it with intention, in a clean place, ideally your puja ghar. Pause for a breath first.
  2. Cleanse it with a soft cloth dipped in water and a pinch of haldi. It is symbolic: you prepare it for its place.
  3. Light a diya and offer a flower, a marigold or a rose, with a few grains of rice.
  4. Chant its mantra 108 times, one mala, with the card in your right hand. The mantra is printed on the activation card.
  5. Set your sankalpa, your intention in one sentence, with the card held to your forehead: "To read a few lines of the Ramayana each evening."
  6. Place it where it lives: the puja ghar, a wallet or a purse. Not the bathroom or the bedroom floor.
  7. Return to it each morning for one breath. There is nothing to renew. The practice is your attention.

Our Ayodhya guide opens with Shri Ram's name, the one families count on a mala:

श्री राम जय राम जय जय राम
Shri Ram Jay Ram Jay Jay Ram

प्रश्नQuestions

Questions about the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Card

Is the card consecrated in Ayodhya?

No. Like every Bhagya Card, it is consecrated with Vedic puja in Pune before it is dispatched, by Vedic pandits we work with directly.

Do I need to have been to Ayodhya to keep it?

No. The card was made as much for those who could not travel there as for those who did.

Can I send it to my parents in another city?

Yes. Give their address at checkout, then add their name after payment, as they write it. With their mobile number, the card also waits for them in their wallet in the Bhagya Card app.

Can I begin it on Ram Navami?

Yes. Ram Navami, Dussehra and Diwali are the days families remember Shri Ram most, and each of them suits a beginning. So does any morning you can give it thirty unhurried minutes, ideally at sunrise.
