कथाThe tradition
Chandra and the twenty-seven nakshatras
Monday is Somvar, the day of Soma, and Soma is one of Chandra's oldest names. In many homes it is Shiva's day too: Shiva wears the crescent moon in his hair, and is called Chandrashekhar for it.
In the Puranas, the twenty-seven nakshatras are the daughters of Daksha Prajapati, and Chandra's wives. As he crosses the sky he stays a night with each, and the nakshatra in today's panchang is the one the Moon is passing through. The tithi is his too: each one is the time the Moon takes to draw twelve degrees further from the Sun.
In jyotish, Chandra is the mind: Varahamihira's Brihat Jataka names him so, and jyotish reads him as the mother too. When an Indian family asks your rashi, it means the sign Chandra was in at your birth.
This card carries his yantra, drawn from its traditional form, for the puja ghar, a wallet or a purse. Chandra on our navagraha page has his day and his bija mantra.
स्थानWhere it is kept
When and where families keep it
Families begin it on a Monday at sunrise, Chandra's day, and keep it in the puja ghar beside the Monday puja, or carry it in a wallet or purse. On Purnima, when he is full, and at the moonrise families wait for on Sankashti Chaturthi, Chandra is remembered too.
नामYour card
What your Chandra Yantra Card carries
- The yantra of Chandra Dev, drawn from its traditional form.
- Your name, in your script. Printed exactly as you type it, in Devanagari or in English, never transliterated.
- Depending on the design, a date of birth, a gotra, a short message and a photo.
- A QR that opens the card's own page, and a serial number on the back that starts with BC-.
You add these after payment, in the app or on the web, with a live preview. Nothing is printed until you press "Make my card"; then the details are final.
विधिHow to begin
Begin your Chandra yantra on a Monday
You do not need a pandit. On a Monday, ideally at sunrise:
- Unwrap it with intention, in a clean place, ideally your puja ghar. Pause for a breath first.
- Cleanse it with a soft cloth dipped in water and a pinch of haldi. It is symbolic: you prepare it for its place.
- Light a diya and offer a flower, a white one if you have it, with a few grains of rice.
- Chant Chandra's bija mantra 108 times, one mala, with the card in your right hand. It is printed on the activation card.
- Set your sankalpa, your intention in one sentence, with the card held to your forehead: "To keep the Monday puja for forty days."
- Place it where it lives: the puja ghar, a wallet or a purse. Not the bathroom or the bedroom floor.
- Return to it each morning for one breath. There is nothing to renew. The practice is your attention.
The longer practice. For the planetary cards, tradition adds a longer practice: the bija mantra 108 times a day for at least 40 days, then 27 times a day.
Chandra's bija mantra, as our navagraha page has it.
In the envelope
- The card, with your name as you typed it.
- The activation card, with Chandra's bija mantra and the seven steps.
- A gift-ready envelope, so it can be handed over as it arrives.
If it arrives damaged or wrongly printed, write to us within 7 days of delivery with the order number and a photo, and we will replace it at our cost.
उपहारA gift
Giving it to your mother
In jyotish, Chandra is read as the mother, and the card makes a thoughtful gift for a mother who keeps the Monday puja. Pay now and add her name after payment, in the script she writes it in. Add her mobile number too, and the card waits in her wallet in the Bhagya Card app. The printed card reaches her in its gift-ready envelope, with the activation card, so she can begin it herself on a Monday.
प्रश्नQuestions
Questions about the Chandra Yantra Card
Which day should I begin it?
A Monday, Chandra's day, ideally at sunrise. If you keep the longer practice, chant his bija mantra 108 times a day for at least 40 days, then 27 times a day.
Is the Chandra card for sleep or for the mind?
No card is a treatment, and we do not sell this one as a treatment. In jyotish, Chandra is read as the mind, and the card is kept in that tradition, as devotion to Chandra Dev. For health, money, legal or emotional concerns, please speak with a qualified professional.
Why is my rashi read from Chandra?
In Vedic practice, your rashi is your Moon sign: the sign Chandra was in at your birth. The Bhagya Card app shows yours with your kundali, worked out from your birth details.
