About this text
Families and Shani temples sing this aarti on Saturday evening and on Shani Jayanti. It names Shani in the familiar way of the Puranas: the son of Surya and Chhaya, dark in body, four-armed, in blue, on his mount, with iron, sesame, oil and black gram as his traditional offerings.
The refrain returns after each stanza. In tradition, Saturday is his day.
